At Daedalos After School Robotics Programs, kids create, build, program and operate robotic animals, machines and vehicles using LEGO® Education WeDo and Mindstorms Robotics with Computer Programming. On the way they learn computational and critical thinking, problem solving and teamwork skills.
We place your child into grade level appropriate activities based on skill, ability, experience and preference. Returning students from After School Programs will be placed in more advanced levels with new sets of activities that will challenge them further.
Program Description: LEGO® Education WeDo Introductory Robotics introduces students to basic robotics concepts and programming skills within the STEM Curriculum. Students combine LEGO Bricks with robotics parts (motors and sensors connected via USB or Bluetooth to laptops) and then learn to operate them using visual programming software. On the way student learn key skills such as computational thinking, problem solving, communication and teamwork skills. Students go through progressively challenging levels in the LEGO® Education WeDo Introductory Robotics program:
Students’ skills are assessed at the beginning of the program and are put into the appropriate challenge level. Returning students move to the next challenge level in the robotics program.
Grade 3 students who show competency with LEGO Robotics and programming move on to more advanced projects with LEGO WeDo 2.0.
The LEGO Mindstorms Robotics + Programming introduces students to design and programming challenges with robots using the LEGO Mindstorms Education EV3 sets and visual programming software. Students develop critical thinking, problem solving, teamwork and digital literacy skills through the various robotic challenges presented in the course. LEGO Mindstorms Robotics + Programming has 4 levels: 1. Robot Educator Tutorials (a. Hardware, b. Basic, c. Beyond Basics), 2. EV3 RoboCamp Tutorials OR NXT Program Activities, 3. FLL/GearBot Mat Challenges, 4. Advanced Programming Challenges. Students are assessed for robotics skills at the beginning of the program and are put into the appropriate challenge level. Returning students move to the next challenge level in the robotics program. Grade 3 students with advanced math skills and experience in Scratch or Mindstorms Labview programming can be considered to join this stream.
